20DEC16 – You never know…

…when you’re going to be someone’s BDON (Best Dance of the Night).  How ‘bout making that a goal tonight: to be a “Secret Santa” on the dance floor, giving your partner not *your* best dance, but theirs?  HO HO HO!!

Classes continue, and we’re dancing as usual….
7:15-8:00 p.m.  WCS*Repertoire – $15 including social dancing
8:00-9:00 p.m.  WCS*Fundamentals – Sorry, no drop-ins (except “Rinse and Repeaters”)
~8:45 p.m. Join in the last 15 minutes of the Fundamentals class to warm up with our newest dancers!  Dancing continues until midnight – just $5 (FREE for current students)
Dovercourt House – 805 Dovercourt Rd. (west of Ossington, north of Bloor)

For anyone who has ever learned a dance routine – and yes, a choreographed Flash Mob counts – you know that there’s a process, of learning, memorizing, fine-tuning, may-be changing…and of course practice. Practice, practice, practice. Rehearsal. Repetition. I think it was Bob Fosse who insisted you’ll never be a good dancer unless you enjoy repetition. One of the things I like about learning and performing choreography is that it *forces* you to practice – to really put the movement in your body – allowing you to focus on technique you didn’t even know you needed.  Next Tuesday, December 27th some of the members of our “Awesome Threesome” dance team will debut a fun and challenging choreography as a dress rehearsal for our New Year’s Eve performance at Spotlight.  I’ll be teaching the routine again starting in a couple of months, to expand the team (and the opportunity to learn and practice, practice, practice with us) with the goal of performing it locally at TOSHC, the Toronto Open Swing and Hustle Championships in July. Stay tuned for more details!!
