ROBERT ROYSTON INTENSIVES – APRIL 22-24
In Elaine’s words: “Robert Royston, 7 time world champion, returns for the 5th time to Ancaster to teach 2 five hour intensives. On Sat Apr 23, from 11:00am – 1pm and 3:00 pm – 6:00pm, Robert will be teaching choreography for the social dance floor for leaders AND followers. He will teach us the concepts of choreography first and then show us how both leaders and followers can use these new skills to change their dancing on the fly on the social dance floor or during competitive dancing. As the church is not available on this Saturday, the intensive and the social dance on this first day will be held at the Beamsville Legion Hall at 5545 King St W in Beamsville, ON (on my GPS it said King St only went up to 5406 in Beamsville, so I put in that address and the Legion Hall was on way).
On Sat night, there will be our regular monthly dance, except the beginner class (taught by our DJ, popular teacher Joanna Swanson) will only run from 7 – 7:30pm. Robert will then teach a lesson from 7:30 – 8:30. The cost will be $10 for the social dance (the beginner lesson is included) plus there will be an additional charge of $10 for Robert’s lesson.
On Sun Apr 24, from 10am – noon and 1:30pm – 4:30pm, Robert will teach the second 5 hr intensive on how to change your dance moves to fit different styles of music. There will be lots of practical application practice in this and the other intensive. This second intensive will be held at Marshall Memorial Church in Ancaster at 20 Gilbert Ave. Please enter the parking lot off Fiddler’s Green Rd because the hall entrance is off that parking lot.
Each 5 hr intensive will cost $125 USD or $176 CAD or you can attend both for $200 USD or $282 CAD. We already have people from Ottawa and NYC planning on coming because Robert teaches with a clarity and insight that is rare. He is a brilliant teacher, and lots of fun too. That is why so many people took Robert’s musicality intensive in Ancaster more than once.
To register, please either send a cheque to Elaine Royds at 2943 Darien Rd, Burlington, ON L7M 4K3, or do an e-transfer to firstname.lastname@example.org (use password Ancaster) or pay Elaine in cash. Class size will be limited, so register soon to guarantee your spot.
Any profits will go to the non-status refugee shelter, Micah House, and the troubled youth organization, Liberty for Youth, which has a phenomenal track record for turning around the lives of children aged 11-22. This is a fundraising project of the Outreach Committee of Marshall Memorial United Church.”
OTTAWA PRO WEEKEND – JUNE 17-19
In Ken’s words: “Dates haven’t changed but the schedule has slightly (maybe) from the last time you checked, for updates go to the site www.ottawaprowcsweekend.com. There will be a session Sunday for advanced/competitive dancers and to attend this session you must have purchased a full weekend pass. The additional session is $25 and is by invitation/audition only. If you know people who might qualify let them know to contact me after/before they register and I will let them know if they qualify. Space for this session is very limited so the sooner the better. Private lessons with Hugo and/or Stacy are also very limited and I will be booking them on their behalf so contact me for this as well before they are all gone. Early bird price of $99 stops 30 April and will go up to $109 on the 1st of May. If they want the best price they should definitely sign up before then.”
Always lots more to check out. Please see the calendar and thanks for letting me know if you notice any glaring errors or omissions, or how I can make anything clearer or more helpful.
See you TONIGHT!
