AUG25 – Julie’s Juke Joint

Join me tonight: Tuesday, August 25th!  We’re celebrating nearly 14 years of weekly West Coast Swing lessons in Toronto (happy anniversary to me), our wonderful ever-growing West Coast Swing community (hooray and thanks to all YOU!), and the incredible versatility of our dance with an eclectic playlist of music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.  FREE TO ALL!  West Coast-curious friends and family are welcome to join us and dance Hustle or free-style – or anything else 🙂

6:30-8:00 p.m.  Flash Mob Rehearsal – because practice makes perfect, and it’s FUN!! (and *FREE*).  Last week we introduced the diagonal slot and worked again on our entrances at different sections of the song. Highly recommended that you join in to get experience with these added challenges in the choreography. (I’m also hoping that a majority of Mobsters can make it to the *Floor Trial* in the park Friday night, September 4th ~9:30 p.m. to get acquainted with the actual Flash Mob site and surfaces we’ll be dancing on.) Toronto Rocks! the International Flash Mob Facebook Event

8:00 p.m.- midnight  Dancing!!  Yes, we’re starting at 8:00 p.m. for four hours of social dancing and socializing.  Dress comfortably, BYOWB (Bring Your Own Water Bottle), and groove to classic R&B, Sixties Soul, 70’s Funk and Disco, and Rock and Pop from the 1980’s.

SPEAKING OF VISION DANCE ENCOUNTER…
Have you noticed how they’ve beefed up the WCS staff and content by adding new instructors and keeping the West Coast Swing room separate and unique from the Zouk room for social dancing?  This (local!) event is a unique experience to get up close and personal with (my personal idols) Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollman, as well as Maxence and Virginie, and now Jason and Annemarie Marker (the “Magic Markers”, as well as Melissa Rollins and our own Nelson Clarke.  This is truly an awesome opportunity for intimate workshops, stellar performances, and social dancing – all in support of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB)Facebook Event Page

ALLONS DANCER!  MONTREAL WESTIE FEST – OCTOBER 16-18
A reminder that Joanna and I are organizing tables, $144 Canadian (the online price is now US$125 and does not include a table seat).  I think we’re both about half-filled. Fun, young “next generation” Champion staff includes Ben McHenry and Cameo Cross (a.k.a. “BAMEO”), Hockey-loving Vancouverite John Kirkconnell and Alyssa Glanville, and – just added – the utterly unique Jerome and Bonnie Subey.  So what are you waiting for? Get in the car!! (or train or plane – the hotel is near both Dorval airport and train station).  Website, Toronto ROCKS Montreal Westie Fest Facebook Event, or see the calendar
