JUL07 – Business as Usual – and NOT

*As usual*, we’re offering our first-Tuesday-of-the-month FREE class at 8:00 p.m. at the Dovercourt House.  Please let your friends, family, colleagues, etc. know that they can come and try a class for FREE, stay for the dance (also for FREE) and – if they’re interested in learning more – they can register right away for the WCS*Fundamentals series that will run from July 7th-August 18th, or do so online, or the next week.
Facebook Event – Please feel free to *share*! We love welcoming fun, new people to our wcs family…oh, and remind them to BYOWB! (Bring Your Own Water Bottle) 🙂

Also this Tuesday….

*In place* of our regular HD and Repertoire classes (6:30-8:00 p.m.) Shelley and I will be leading a series of Flash Mob Rehearsals to learn and practice the routine in a series of group classes: July 7th-August 18th in preparation the International Flash Mob taking place Saturday, September 5th.

“New, Old, Borrowed and Blue” is the theme of this FREE outdoor dance event at Harbourtfront featuring a short dance lesson with our own Joanna Swanson followed by dancing to live music provided by the Toronto All-Star Big Band. Awesome opportunity to support the Toronto Swing Dance Society – which has always supported our dance – and for a fun PDWCS (Public Display of WCS) !!
Plan to be there by 7:30 p.m. at the latest to get organized – and please partner with a *new dancer* to help them with the lesson. Jo is on at 7:45 p.m. when the band breaks.

Saturday and Sunday Mini-Intensive in Ancaster on the calendar

I *love* really big dance events, with an overwhelming number of Pros and more potential dance partners than I could possibly dance with in a week, much less a weekend. The number and size of the competitions can be also be overwhelming, though – and the size of the workshops.  When I want to concentrate on my own personal development as a dancer I prefer the intimacy and accessibility of something smaller…

…like Vision Dance Encounter, taking place here in Toronto October 2-4
Jordan and Tatiana. Need I say more?
Oh, yeah – Maxence and Virginie.
Even without the Zouk component this is a unique opportunity with limited enrollment: only 50 WCS Leaders and 50 WCS Followers

…like Montreal Westie Fest, October 16-18
A World Swing Dance Council event with manageable heats (competitors, you know what I’m talking about), small *levelled* workshops (my favourite), Pro-Ams (compete with a professional partner – fun!!) and all costs are in Canadian dollars – which is starting to be a real issue.
